Refund policy
Returns and Refunds Policy
At Target Rifle South Australia Inc. we understand that sometimes you may need to return a product you have purchased from us. To assist you in this process we have set out below our Returns and Refunds Policy. We have also highlighted some key points that you should know.
Our Returns Policy includes the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Under Australian Consumer law you have a right to a refund or exchange if an item has a major problem.
This is when the item:
- has a problem that would have stopped you from buying the item if you had known about it
- is unsafe
- is significantly different from the sample or description
- doesn’t do what we said it would, or what you asked for and can’t be easily fixed.
Alternatively, you can choose to keep the item and we will compensate you for any drop in value.
If the problem is not major, we will repair the item within a reasonable time.
If it is not repaired in a reasonable time, you can choose a refund or replacement.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not limited by a defined time. However, the Australian Consumer Law does recognise that the relevant time period can vary from product to product, depending on factors such as the nature of the product and the price. As you can appreciate, the type of remedy we can offer you may also vary depending on how long it takes you to return the product to us.
Some goods and services aren't covered by automatic consumer guarantees.
We are not required to provide a refund or replacement for the following reasons.
- you changed your mind
- we identified faults to you before you bought the item
- you inspected the item before buying and didn't find faults you should have seen
- the item was used incorrectly
- you damaged the goods after you bought them
- you have used the product for a long time and the problem is due to normal wear and tear
Returning Products
To obtain a refund, exchange or repair for a product purchased from us, including those products which carry a manufacturer's warranty, you must have a clear proof of purchase - e.g., your receipt or invoice.
If we cannot be satisfied that you purchased the product from us then, under the law, we are entitled to elect whether to accept your product for return.
Products do not need to be returned in their original packaging, but you should wrap the goods, so they are well protected during delivery.
Any cost incurred by you in returning products to our store will be borne by you. This includes products that carry a manufacturer's warranty.
For assistance in returning any products, please contact our sales staff prior to returning any products. Our staff can be contacted either by phone or email.

Cost of returning products that aren't faulty
If the product is found not to have a problem, you may be required to pay the transport or inspection costs. An estimate of these costs should be provided to you before the product is collected, and the costs must not be inflated in an attempt to deter you from pursuing your claims.
Product Assessment
Once proof of purchase has been established, if the product fault can safely and clearly be determined instore, we will offer you either a refund, exchange, or repair. The available remedy will depend on whether the fault amounts to a major failure. Where the product fault is difficult or potentially dangerous to determine in-store (for example firearms/ammunition testing), we will need to consult with the manufacturer or their repair agent to determine the fault and resolution.
The manufacturer or their agent will determine whether a product has incurred a major or minor fault. Where a product has been sent to the manufacturer, the manufacturer will determine whether:
- There is no fault found
- There is a minor fault which can be easily repaired within a reasonable time frame
- There is a major fault found and the customer is to be offered a replacement or a refund
- The product has been damaged or abused through misuse
Where there is no fault found, the product will be returned to our store to be returned to you.
Where the manufacturer's assessment finds that there is no fault with the goods, or that the goods have been damaged due to misuse or abnormal use of the goods by you, we may require, at our option, that you compensate us for any fee imposed on us by the manufacturer in relation to this assessment.
When we send your product to the manufacturer or their repair agent, we will ask them to assess the product and provide their assessment within a reasonable timeframe.
Where an item has been assessed by us or the manufacturer or the manufactures repair agent as having sustained damage due to misuse or abnormal use, we are not obliged to offer a repair, refund, or exchange.
Refund
Where a refund is granted, we will refund the original purchase price via the previous method of payment indicated on the receipt
